Editorial Policy and How We Research

OnForex is an independent website about forex trading and Exness, published in English and Japanese. This page explains how we research, write and correct our pages.

How we make money

  • We earn a referral commission from Exness when someone opens an account through our links and trades. Exness is our only referral partner. We earn nothing from the other brokers we mention.
  • We do not sell placements, ratings or rankings.
  • Pages with referral links say so before the article starts, and those links carry rel="sponsored".
  • Claims about withdrawal speed or spreads come with a note that they depend on conditions.

Where our facts come from

We check facts and figures against primary sources, in this order:

  1. Regulators' registers, warning lists and official publications
  2. The broker's official website, help centre and legal documents
  3. Official pages of payment providers, exchanges and other parties involved
  4. Data we have analysed ourselves (see below)

Wherever we can, we show the date we checked a fact and link to the source. If we cannot confirm something on an official page, we say so and ask you to check the official site rather than guessing. Unless an article says otherwise, we have not opened accounts or placed trades to test the information.

How we test with our own data

Our pages on indicators, chart patterns, trading sessions and money management include our own analysis of Yahoo Finance prices: hourly data for the major currency pairs from January 2024, daily data from 2016-2017, and COMEX gold futures for gold.

  • Each chart or table states the period and the data source, and the cost assumptions and number of trades where they matter for the result.
  • To avoid showing only flattering results, we test settings where possible on data they were not chosen on (out-of-sample or walk-forward tests), or compare them with simple baselines such as random entries or always buying.
  • We publish results that did not work as well. Past results on historical data do not predict future performance.

What we do not publish

  • Unsupported "best" or "No.1" claims, or broker rankings. Our comparisons list what to check instead.
  • Promises of profit or calls to buy or sell a specific market.
  • Ways around regulations or country restrictions, such as VPNs or using another person's identity or account.
  • Reviews of individual signal sellers or trading bots.

Where a regulator has issued a warning or a restriction that is relevant to a page, we state it as a short fact with a link to the source. For example, Japan's Financial Services Agency lists Exness's operator among unregistered businesses it has warned, and our Japanese pages show this on every page that carries a referral link.

How we update pages

We review pages using search data and revise them when a broker's conditions or a regulation change. The "Last updated" date on an article is the date of its latest review.

Reporting an error

If you spot a factual error or outdated information, email contact@onforex.co with the page URL and the passage. We check it against the source, and if it is wrong we correct the page and update its date.

Risk

Trading forex and CFDs carries a high risk of losing money. Our pages are general information, not investment advice. See our risk disclosure and about page.
