Short answer: Exness says its entities do not offer services to residents of the United Kingdom, so a person who lives in the UK should not expect to open an Exness account. This page explains why, how to check any forex or CFD broker on the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) Register, and what the FCA's permanent CFD rules for retail clients require.

Sources: the Exness Help Center article "Can I verify an Exness account from a foreign country?" (updated September 29, 2026); the footer wording published on the Exness Kenya site (exness.ke), because exness.com blocked our automated access; the FCA website. All checked November 7, 2026. We did not try to register from the UK.
Is Exness available in the UK?
No. The Exness footer names the United Kingdom among the jurisdictions whose residents its entities do not serve, together with the USA, Canada, Iran, North Korea, Europe, Russia, Belarus "and others".
The Help Center says Exness decides by where you permanently and lawfully live. It does not accept nationals of countries it does not serve who live in another country it does not serve (its example is an American citizen living in the UK), and it does not accept nationals of served countries who live in a country it does not serve (Help Center). A British citizen who permanently and lawfully lives in a served country can be verified with identity and address documents.
| Question | Answer | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Does Exness serve UK residents? | No | Exness footer wording |
| Does nationality override residence? | No. Permanent lawful residence decides | Help Center, "Can I verify an Exness account from a foreign country?" |
"Restrictions for my country (United Kingdom)"
For UK residents the restriction is not a product limit. Exness does not provide its services at all. Do not use another country's address, an intermediary or someone else's account to get around it; we give no instructions for that, and false residence details can get an account blocked.
How to check a broker on the FCA Register
The FCA publishes a public register of the firms it authorises. You can check in a few minutes:
- Search the firm's name on the FCA Financial Services Register.
- Read the status, the permissions it holds and the "firm reference number". A firm authorised for one activity is not automatically authorised for CFDs.
- Compare the website, phone number and address with the register's contact details, not with the ones the firm gives you.
- Check the FCA's warning list for clones before you pay.
If a firm is not on the register and contacts you first, treat that as a warning sign.
UK rules for retail CFD trading
Whatever broker a UK resident chooses, the FCA's permanent rules on CFDs sold to retail clients apply. The FCA confirmed them on July 1, 2019 and they took effect on August 1, 2019 (FCA press release). According to the FCA they include:
- Leverage limits between 30:1 and 2:1, depending on the volatility of the underlying asset.
- A 50% margin close-out rule: a firm must close a client's positions once funds fall to 50% of the margin needed to keep them open.
- Negative balance protection: a client cannot lose more than the total funds in the CFD account.
- A ban on trading inducements, monetary or not.
We did not check whether the FCA has amended these rules since 2019, so read the current FCA Handbook text (COBS 22.5) before relying on a figure. The practical point is that leverage far above those limits is a sign that the firm is not applying UK retail rules to you.
What UK residents usually look for
Look for a firm that appears on the FCA Register with permission to deal in the product you want, and read the client agreement for the legal entity, how client money is held and what complaint route you get. We do not name brokers here. A register check is better than any list, and it is yours to do on the day you decide.
Scam warnings
- Social accounts or chats that offer "UK Exness accounts" or "managed" trading.
- Anyone who asks for a deposit to unlock withdrawals or taxes.
- Cloned websites with a name close to a real firm: check the web address on the FCA Register entry.
- Requests for passwords, one-time codes or remote access. Exness tells clients never to share verification codes (OTP scams) and says its support does not use Telegram or Messenger for support chats (Official communication channels).
