Short answer: You can open a free Exness demo account and register with Cameroon as your country if the form shows service is offered. The Central African CFA franc (XAF), Cameroon's currency, is not an Exness account currency. The list does include XOF, but that is the West African CFA franc, a different currency, so Cameroonian traders normally open a USD or EUR account. Exness is an offshore broker as far as Central Africa's market regulator, COSUMAF, is concerned, so check its notices and licence list before you deposit.

Does Exness work in Cameroon?

Exness does not publish a country list, so the registration form decides. Enter your email, choose Cameroon as your country of residence and see whether service is offered. If it is, you get a Personal Area, a demo account and, after verification, a live account. Cameroon has English and French speakers; the Exness site and Help Center are in English and the support list above does not include French.

Acceptance rests on permanent, lawful residence. A Cameroonian living in Cameroon registers from Cameroon; a foreign resident can register if their documents show that residence. The registered country cannot be changed, and a permanent move means a new account from the new country. We do not suggest registering from a country where you do not live.

XAF, XOF and account currency

The account currency list for Standard, Pro, Raw Spread and Zero accounts includes XOF but not XAF. They are two separate currencies, issued for different regional unions, even though both are pegged to the euro. Do not assume that XOF suits a Cameroonian payment. In practice:

  • USD is the simplest choice for reading results, since gold and most pairs are quoted against the dollar.
  • EUR is listed too and may feel natural for a franc-based household, but it adds a conversion against USD-quoted instruments.
  • Conversion happens at the payment step. If you pay in francs, your bank or wallet converts at its own rate. The currency you deposit in is the one used on withdrawal.
  • Account currency cannot be changed after creation; you would open a new account.

Deposits and mobile money in Cameroon

Mobile wallets such as MTN Mobile Money and Orange Money are widely used in Cameroon. Whether Exness offers any of them for your region is not published. The Deposit tab in your Personal Area shows the methods for your registered region with their limits, fees and processing times.

Rules that apply to every method:

  • The wallet or bank account must be in your own full name; third-party payments are not accepted.
  • Your operator or bank may charge its own fees.
  • Methods can be temporarily unavailable during provider maintenance.
  • Verification lifts deposit limits.

See deposit and withdrawal methods and withdrawal time. Withdrawal processing time can vary by payment method. Cameroon belongs to a regional currency zone with its own rules on transfers abroad, so ask your bank what applies to foreign payments.

Minimum deposit for Cameroon

Account typeFirst-deposit rule
Standard Cent and StandardLow; depends on payment method and country
Pro, Raw Spread, ZeroAt least USD 200 in some regions

Later deposits only need to meet the payment method's minimum. Lot size and margin determine the balance a position needs; a small balance with a large position can be closed out quickly. Standard accounts have margin call at 60% and stop out at 0% (stop out guide). See the minimum deposit guide.

How to open an Exness account from Cameroon

  2. Practise on a demo account with virtual funds (demo account guide).
  3. Verify. Upload a government ID (national identity card or passport) and proof of address such as a utility bill or bank statement (verification guide). The verification page lists the exact document requirements.
  4. Create a live account. Choose type, platform and currency (account types).
  5. Deposit from an account in your own name; start small.

Short factual notes:

  • Capital markets in the six CEMAC countries, including Cameroon, are supervised by COSUMAF (Commission de Surveillance du Marché Financier de l'Afrique Centrale) at cosumaf.org. It has issued public warnings about investment offers made without its authorisation. Banks fall under COBAC, and BEAC is the regional central bank.
  • We could not run a search of the COSUMAF register, so we make no claim on whether Exness appears. Search the exact entity name from your client agreement and read COSUMAF's latest communiqués.
  • Exness operates through several group companies authorised by different financial regulators around the world. The company that serves you is named in your client agreement and in the footer of your Personal Area. Check the current list on Exness's regulation page and confirm it on the regulator's own register. See Exness regulation.

The Direction Générale des Impôts (DGI) is the tax authority. Ask a Cameroonian tax adviser how trading income is treated and keep records of deposits, withdrawals and trades.

Swap, leverage and risk

Cameroon is not on the list of 33 countries assigned swap-free status automatically. Swap-free applies by default on eligible instruments and an overnight administrative fee may apply on some (Islamic account guide). Maximum leverage depends on your equity and the entity serving you (leverage guide). Leverage magnifies losses as well as gains (risk management).
