Short answer: Exness's own Help Center uses Malaysia as an example of a country it does not provide services to, so a person who lives in Malaysia should not expect to open or verify an account. The same article says a Malaysian citizen who permanently and legally lives in a country that Exness does serve, such as Thailand, can be verified with proof of identity and proof of address. Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) and the Securities Commission Malaysia (SC) alert lists also included entries using the Exness name when we checked on October 23, 2026. Use the registration screens to see what applies to you, and use the checks below before sending money anywhere.

Exness in Malaysia: the facts
| Question | Answer | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Does Exness serve residents of Malaysia? | The Help Center gives Malaysia as an example of a country where Exness services are not offered | Help Center, "Can I verify an Exness account from a foreign country?" |
| Can a Malaysian citizen who lives in another served country register? | Yes, if permanent and legal residence there is shown with identity and address documents. Example in the article: a Malaysian living permanently in Thailand | Same article |
| Can a person living in Malaysia use a served-country identity? | No. Exness does not accept residents of countries it does not serve, whatever their nationality | Same article |
| Is MYR an account currency? | It is on the Help Center list, but that does not mean residents of Malaysia are served | Help Center, "Trading account currencies" |
| Is Malaysia on the swap-free country list? | No. Brunei is; Malaysia is not | Help Center, "Swap-free status (Islamic countries)" |
| Alert lists | BNM's Financial Consumer Alert List and the SC's Investor Alert List included entries that use the Exness name on October 23, 2026 | BNM and SC websites |
Is Exness legal in Malaysia?
Two Malaysian bodies matter here, and the facts are short.
Bank Negara Malaysia. BNM's FAQ on resident foreign-exchange dealing says a resident may only buy or sell foreign currency with licensed onshore banks and licensed money changers (BNM FAQ (PDF)). BNM keeps a Financial Consumer Alert List of entities that may be wrongly perceived as licensed.
Securities Commission Malaysia. The SC publishes an Investor Alert List and an Investment Checker. Absence from a list is not confirmation of a licence.
On October 23, 2026, both alert lists included entries that use the Exness name. We do not know whether each entry refers to the same group of companies, so read the entry and its date yourself. If you are in Malaysia and unsure, ask BNM or the SC directly. For more on the Malaysian rules, see forex trading in Malaysia and how to choose a forex broker in Malaysia.
Exness login and register: what happens in practice
"Exness login Malaysia" and "exness register Malaysia" are among the most common searches. The steps work the same way as elsewhere, but the country choice matters:
- Register with your email and set a password. You are asked for your country of residence, and the screens show whether Exness provides services there.
- Confirm your email. If you can continue, the Personal Area opens with a demo account.
- Verify. Exness requires identity and address documents before payments and full trading are enabled (verification guide). The address must show where you actually live.
- Log in. The Personal Area, the Exness Trade app and MetaTrader all use your credentials (login help).
The region is fixed at creation and cannot be changed afterwards. Giving a country that is not your real residence breaks the verification rule above, and a mismatch can lead to blocked payments, so do not do it.
Malaysians who live abroad
Per the Help Center, nationals of a country that Exness does not serve can be accepted if they permanently and legally live in a country that Exness does serve, with valid proof of identity and address. A short stay or a tourist address does not qualify. Residents of Malaysia are not covered by this exception.
Swap-free and Islamic trading
Because many Malaysians look for swap-free terms, here is what the Help Center says. Clients registered from 33 listed countries get swap-free status automatically on all instruments; Brunei is on that list but Malaysia is not. Everyone else has swap-free status by default on eligible instruments, and an overnight administrative fee may apply on some instruments. This is the position for clients who are served, and a swap-free label is not a religious ruling. See Exness swap-free and Islamic account guide.
MYR, FPX and payment methods
Searches such as "exness fpx" or "exness deposit malaysia" assume service is available. Exness does not publish payment methods by country, and we have not verified any Malaysian method (FPX online banking, DuitNow or cards). If you are a client whom Exness serves, only the Deposit tab shows your options. The general rules apply: payments only from accounts in your own name, the deposit currency is used again on withdrawal, and verification is required before payments work.
Exchange rates also matter. If you ever hold a USD balance and your income is in ringgit, the USD/MYR rate affects what the balance is worth when you convert it back. Illustration, at an assumed USD 1 = MYR 4.5: MYR 900 is USD 200, the minimum first deposit stated for Pro, Raw Spread and Zero in some regions. The rate is an example, not a forecast.
Time zone (UTC+8) for Malaysian traders
Malaysia uses UTC+8 all year. In Kuala Lumpur, Tokyo opens at about 08:00, London at about 15:00 or 16:00 and New York at about 20:00 or 21:00. US data such as non-farm payrolls usually arrives at about 20:30 or 21:30. Platform charts use server time, so convert before setting alerts. See Exness trading hours.
If Exness is not available to you
When the registration screens say Exness does not serve your country, that settles it for Exness. Do not look for ways around it: a VPN, a relative's address or a third-party account breaks the rules, and Exness can block payments or close an account when verification fails. Instead:
- Use the BNM and SC tools above to see which firms are authorised in Malaysia.
- Compare any firm on the points in the broker-choice checklist: regulator of the contracting company, costs, MYR funding, Islamic terms.
- Practise on any demo account before sending real money.
For your own reference on the platform, see Exness demo account and Exness regulation.
Tax
The Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia (LHDN) is the tax authority. How trading gains are treated depends on your circumstances, so keep records and ask a Malaysian tax adviser. This is not tax advice.
