Exness Peru: Is It Legal? Account Currency, Demo and Hours

Short answer: Peru is not among the countries Exness says it does not serve, so you can pick Peru at registration and start with a free demo account. The Peruvian sol (PEN) is not an Exness account currency, which means a USD account plus conversion costs when you move money. Peru's securities regulator, the SMV, has stated that no company in Peru is authorised to publicly offer forex or CFD services, so read the legal section before you deposit.

We did not open a Peruvian account, so we do not describe live deposit screens.

Is Exness available in Peru?

The footer of Exness's website says it does not serve residents of the USA, Canada, Iran, North Korea, Europe, the UK, Russia and Belarus, "and others". Peru is not named, but the list is open-ended, so the country list in the registration form is the final check. If Peru can be selected, you can create a Personal Area and a demo account.

Exness's rule is based on where you permanently and lawfully live, not on your passport. A Peruvian living in Spain or Chile registers from the country of residence, with proof of address from there.

Soles, dollars and your account currency

Many Peruvians already think in dollars, since banks commonly offer dollar accounts, and that makes the missing sol account less of a problem than it sounds. Still, every currency step costs money. The account currency cannot be changed later, and conversions apply when you deposit or withdraw in a different currency than the account's.

  • USD account: pip values, commissions and gold quotes are easy to follow. If your bank holds your dollars, a deposit from a dollar account can avoid one conversion.
  • Funding in soles: your bank or payment provider converts at its own rate and may add a fee. Compare the all-in rate with the market rate before you send money.

Illustration at an assumed rate of USD 1 = PEN 3.75; the real rate changes daily and differs by provider.

Searches for "Exness Yape" are common. We could not confirm Yape or any other Peruvian wallet from public Exness pages, so the Deposit tab of your Personal Area is the only reliable list for Peru. Whatever method appears, it must be in your own name; third-party payments are not accepted. See the deposit and withdrawal guide.

Facts, kept short:

  • The Superintendencia del Mercado de Valores (SMV) supervises the securities market, and the SBS supervises banks and insurers. In a communiqué (PDF dated October 2021), the SMV states that no company in Peru is authorised to publicly offer Forex products and services, and urges the public not to hand money to firms and platforms advertising them.
  • Our searches found no SMV alert that names Exness, and we have no evidence that an Exness company is supervised by the SMV; check the SMV's list of supervised entities yourself. Exness operates through several group companies authorised by different financial regulators around the world. The company that serves you is named in your client agreement and in the footer of your Personal Area. Check the current list on Exness's regulation page and confirm it on the regulator's own register.
  • The SMV also warns that criminals use its name to ask for deposits. It never asks you for money to invest or to recover funds.

Read Exness regulation and your client agreement before depositing. Never share your password or a one-time code with anyone claiming to be Exness support.

Demo account for Peruvian traders

  1. Register on the Exness website with your email and password.
  2. Choose Peru as your country. It cannot be changed later.
  3. Confirm your email. A Standard MT5 demo with virtual funds is created in your Personal Area.
  4. For MT4, Pro, Raw Spread or Zero, go to My Accounts, select Open Account, then Demo.

Use the demo to learn the platform and to test a risk rule such as 1% per trade before using real money. Read the demo account guide and the app guide for downloads.

What to check on the demo

  • Gold. XAUUSD is popular; on Raw Spread the commission is USD 3.5 per lot per side and USD 5.5 on Zero. More in fees and spreads.
  • Spread at your hours. Compare quotes at the London open and in the evening. Spreads can vary and widen with market volatility, news and market open/close.
  • Margin. See how fast the margin level falls when you open two positions.

Market hours in Lima time

Peru uses UTC-5 all year, with no daylight saving. Because London and New York change their clocks on different dates, times shift by an hour at times. Approximate times:

New York open07:00 or 08:00
US data releasesabout 07:30 or 08:30
Weekly closeFriday about 16:00 or 17:00

The London-New York overlap, the busiest part of the day, falls in the early Lima morning. See Exness trading hours.

Taxes in Peru

SUNAT is the tax authority. We did not verify how gains from an overseas CFD or forex broker are taxed. Keep statements and every deposit and withdrawal record, and ask a Peruvian accountant. General background is in our forex tax guide.
