Short answer: Ethiopian traders can register with Exness by choosing Ethiopia as their country, open a free demo account with virtual funds, and download the Exness Trade app or MT4/MT5. The Ethiopian birr (ETB) is not on the Exness list of trading account currencies, so an Ethiopian client holds the account in USD or another listed currency, and any birr deposit or withdrawal is converted. Which local deposit methods you see, including mobile money or bank options, is shown only in the Deposit tab of your Personal Area after registration and verification.

Exness demo account in Ethiopia
Most people in Ethiopia start with the demo, because it needs no deposit.
- Open the Exness registration page and enter your email and password.
- Choose Ethiopia as your country. The region cannot be changed afterwards.
- Confirm your email. Exness creates your Personal Area.
- Open My Accounts and the Demo tab. A Standard MT5 demo account with virtual funds is already there.
- For MT4 or another account type, select Open Account, choose Demo, then pick the currency, leverage and platform.
A demo does not have the pressure of real money, and demo fills are not a promise of live results. Login and reset help is in the demo account guide.
Using the demo on a small budget and slow data
Mobile data in Ethiopia can be limited, so use the demo to learn the app and to see how much data a session uses before you trade live. The Exness Trade app runs on Android 6.0+ and iOS 15+, and MT4 and MT5 have their own mobile apps. Platform downloads and app comparisons are in the Exness download guide and the MT5 download guide.
Birr, USD and the account currency question
Account currency cannot be changed once an account is created, and a conversion applies when you deposit or withdraw in a different currency. Because ETB is not offered, you choose from the listed currencies. Most Ethiopian traders will compare:
- USD Standard account. Most guide examples, commissions and lot values are in dollars. Simple to follow.
- Standard Cent (USC). Balance is in US cents, so a small balance can trade micro positions. See the Standard Cent guide.
- Other listed currencies such as EUR or GBP, if your payment method works in them.
Illustrative example, not a forecast: the birr has changed value against the dollar in recent years, so a result in USD can look different in birr. Suppose you deposit ETB 10,000 when USD 1 = ETB 125, which is USD 80. If you withdraw USD 80 when USD 1 = ETB 140, you receive ETB 11,200 with no trading gain, and the reverse can also happen. Keep two records: your result in USD, which is what the platform shows, and the birr value of each deposit and withdrawal on its date.
Deposits and withdrawals from Ethiopia
Searches such as "exness deposit ethiopia", "exness telebirr" and "exness withdraw to CBE" are common. We could not verify any named Ethiopian method from public pages, so we do not say any exists. What the Help Center does state:
- Payment methods depend on your registered region, your verification status and the current availability of the provider.
- Each method shows processing time, fee and minimum and maximum limit in the Deposit and Withdrawal tabs before you confirm.
- Third-party payments are not allowed. The account or wallet must be in your own name.
- You must complete verification before payment transactions become available, and a successful first deposit is required before you can trade.
Read the deposit and withdrawal guide and Exness deposit time. For minimums, see Exness minimum deposit. If a method is missing, do not use a friend's or an agent's account to pay; use the methods your Deposit tab shows.
Is Exness legal in Ethiopia? The regulatory facts
Foreign exchange in Ethiopia is controlled by the National Bank of Ethiopia (NBE), which issues directives on holding and moving foreign currency, and capital-market activity falls under the Ethiopian Capital Market Authority. Our findings on October 27, 2026:
- We found no Ethiopian licence for Exness and no NBE or Capital Market Authority notice naming Exness.
- We also found no NBE rule written specifically about residents trading with offshore online brokers. Foreign-exchange directives have been revised several times in recent years, and we could not confirm which version is current.
- Exness states that your Personal Area footer shows which regulated entity holds your account. See Exness regulation.
This is a short factual note, not legal advice. If you are unsure how the NBE's rules apply to moving money abroad, ask your bank or an Ethiopian lawyer before you deposit.
Market hours in Ethiopia (UTC+3)
Ethiopia uses East Africa Time, UTC+3, all year with no daylight saving. Many Ethiopian traders use the 12-hour local clock in daily life, so write the schedule in 24-hour time before you set alerts.
| Session | Approximate Ethiopia time |
|---|---|
| Tokyo open | 03:00 |
| London open | 10:00 or 11:00 (varies with UK daylight saving) |
| New York open | 15:00 or 16:00 |
| US data (e.g. non-farm payrolls) | about 15:30 or 16:30 |
| London-New York overlap | about 15:00 to 19:00 or 20:00 |
Forex runs five days a week. The MetaTrader server clock is not Ethiopian time. See Exness trading hours.
Accounts, leverage and costs
Standard, Standard Cent, Pro, Raw Spread and Zero are available; compare them in account types. Default leverage is 1:2000 up to USD 29,999.99 of equity (unlimited below USD 5,000 if conditions are met), 1:1000 from USD 30,000 to 99,999 and 1:500 above USD 100,000 (leverage guide). Swap-free is on by default for eligible instruments, with an overnight administrative fee possible on some (swap-free and Islamic account guide). Gold commission is USD 3.5 per lot per side on Raw Spread and USD 5.5 on Zero (fees and spreads). Higher leverage brings the stop out closer (stop out).

Taxes in Ethiopia
Tax matters sit with the federal tax authority. We did not verify how trading income from an offshore broker is treated, so keep records of deposits, withdrawals and closed trades, and ask an Ethiopian tax adviser. General background is in our forex tax guide.

Scams that promise "daily profit" through Telegram, WhatsApp or Facebook groups use the Exness name. Exness does not ask for your password or one-time codes, and nobody can lawfully guarantee returns. Use only your own Personal Area, and read Exness customer support for how to reach real support.
