Short answer: Egyptian traders have more localisation to work with at Exness than most. The Help Center lists the Egyptian pound among account currencies and Arabic among support languages, and Egypt is on the list of 33 countries that receive swap-free status automatically on all instruments. What it does not provide is a local licence: the Financial Regulatory Authority (FRA) does not license international retail forex brokers as far as we could confirm. Account types, deposits and leverage are summarised below, with links to the full guides.

Choosing between an EGP account and a USD account

The account currency is set once and cannot be changed (First-time deposits). That decision matters more in Egypt than in most markets because of how far the pound has moved in recent years.

  • A USD account keeps your trading balance in dollars. Your pounds are converted on the way in and out, and the pound value of your money depends on the rate on each date.
  • An EGP account, where your region offers it, keeps the balance in pounds, so there is no conversion on deposit. But your trades are still priced in the currency pair, and profit is converted to pounds at the account's rate, so the exchange rate still shapes your result.

A worked illustration with an assumed rate, not a quote: if USD 1 were EGP 50, then EGP 5,000 would become USD 100. A gain of USD 10 would be EGP 500 at the same rate. If the pound weakened to 55 per dollar, your USD 110 would be worth EGP 6,050 — more pounds simply because of the currency, whatever the trade did. If it strengthened to 45, USD 110 would be EGP 4,950, a pound loss despite a dollar gain. Read the rates shown in the Deposit tab before confirming.

What the FRA and the central bank cover

The FRA supervises Egypt's non-bank financial sector, and the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) supervises banks and foreign exchange policy. The FRA website refused our request when we checked, so we could not read its current position on foreign online forex and CFD providers or any notice naming Exness (fra.gov.eg). CBE rules also affect how easily bank cards and transfers can pay foreign brokers; if a payment is declined, your bank may need to approve it. Our country pages give the background: forex trading in Egypt and best forex brokers in Egypt.

Exness says its entities are regulated in various jurisdictions, and your entity appears in the Personal Area footer (Is Exness regulated?). We could not verify which entity opens accounts for Egyptian residents.

How Egyptians usually move money, and what to verify

Common payment tools in Egypt include Meeza and Visa or Mastercard bank cards, InstaPay, mobile wallets such as Vodafone Cash, and Fawry outlets. We have not verified that Exness offers any of them. Exness states that the methods shown depend on your registered region and verification status, and each lists its limits, fees and processing time (Available payment methods). Treat the Deposit tab as the only authority. A wallet or card in someone else's name will not be accepted, and a card declined by your bank is not an Exness error. The mechanics of withdrawals are in the withdrawal time guide.

Swap-free and the Islamic-account question

Many Egyptian readers look for an Islamic account. For Egypt, Exness applies swap-free status automatically, so you do not file a request; the status covers all instruments in your Personal Area (Help Center). An overnight administrative fee may apply on some instruments, so check specifications. Read the Exness swap-free and Islamic account guide.

When the market is awake in Cairo

Egypt uses UTC+2 and has applied daylight saving in some years, which would move local times by an hour. Check your current offset. Approximate local times:

WindowApproximate Cairo time
London open10:00 to 11:00
London and New York overlapabout 14:00 to 18:00
US data releases (typical)15:30 or 16:30
Friday closelate evening, weekend gap follows

Gold and EUR/USD tend to be most active in the overlap. Market days run Monday to Friday while Egyptian weekends fall on Friday and Saturday, so Friday is a day off for many people; avoid leaving positions open that you cannot watch. See the trading hours guide.

Account choice and cost

Standard and Standard Cent have low minimum first deposits that depend on payment method and region; Pro, Raw Spread and Zero need at least USD 200 (Help Center). Standard Cent counts in cent lots. For a quick comparison see the account types guide and minimum deposit guide. The global leverage default is 1:2000 below USD 5,000 equity, with caps by entity and instrument; read the leverage guide before you size a trade.

Tax in Egypt

The Egyptian Tax Authority (eta.gov.eg) administers taxes. We found no official page that addresses income from offshore CFD trading, so ask an Egyptian tax adviser. Keep dated statements of deposits, withdrawals and closed trades, with the EGP value of each transfer.

Getting started

  1. Register with email and your Egyptian phone number, and confirm both.
  2. Upload an identity document and an address document dated within six months (requirements); a national ID cannot be used as proof of address.
  3. Create a demo account and test the platform; see the demo account guide.
  4. Choose account currency and platform with care; neither can be switched.
  5. Fund from your own account, starting small, and check a withdrawal early.

Arabic-language support is listed in the Help Center. If someone you do not know offers to "guide" you through verification for a fee, stop; Exness staff will not ask for fees to process documents.

Demo and platforms

A Standard MT5 demo with USD 10,000 virtual funds is available after registration; you can add Pro, Raw Spread and Zero demos. MT4 and MT5 run on desktop, with the Exness Terminal in the browser and the Exness Trade app on phones (mobile app guide, MT4 guide).

Gold, oil and the pairs Egyptians follow

Gold (XAUUSD) is a popular instrument among Egyptian traders, in part because gold prices are watched closely at home, and it tends to move sharply on US inflation and jobs data released in the Cairo afternoon. Commission on Exness gold is USD 3.50 per lot per side on Raw Spread and USD 5.50 on Zero. Crude oil and EUR/USD are other regular choices. See the gold trading guide and the spread list. Trading the Egyptian pound directly is not available on a normal retail account; your results come from dollar, euro and metals instruments.

The pound's recent history

Egypt has changed its exchange-rate regime in recent years, including large devaluations and a move to a more flexible rate, and it has agreed IMF programmes. For sourced figures read the Central Bank of Egypt's rate and inflation releases at cbe.org.eg and CAPMAS statistics at capmas.gov.eg. Why this matters: a person who saved pounds in an earlier period may have lost purchasing power in dollar terms, which is why many Egyptians look at dollar accounts. A dollar account is not a safe haven in itself. Trading losses are dollar losses.

Egyptian holidays and trading

The market stays open on Egyptian holidays, but banks and Fawry-type outlets may close or run slowly around Eid ul-Fitr, Eid ul-Adha, Coptic Christmas (7 January), Sinai Liberation Day (25 April), Sham el-Nessim, Revolution Day (23 July) and Armed Forces Day (6 October). Move money several days ahead of long breaks. Egyptian offices close on Friday and Saturday, while the forex week closes on Friday evening New York time, which is around midnight in Cairo. Check the trading hours guide and Exness's holiday trading hours for US and UK closures.

How Egyptians usually fund broker accounts

In general terms, people fund overseas accounts from a bank account or card in their own name, and sometimes from a wallet. Official foreign-currency availability has varied, and some people turn to informal dollar sellers. Do not do that for a trading account: payments must come from your own accounts, and informal routes can create legal and fraud risks. Use only what the Deposit tab offers.

Scams and warnings in Egypt

The patterns reported most often are "local brokers" running through Facebook pages and WhatsApp that disappear after you deposit, fake investment apps, Telegram "teachers" who sell expensive courses with promised returns, and people who ask for remote access to your phone. The FRA publishes lists of licensed entities and public notices; check them at fra.gov.eg when the site is reachable. Exness ended copy trading on 25 June 2026.

Beginner path in pounds

With an assumed USD 1 = EGP 50 for arithmetic only (use the live rate), EGP 2,500 is about USD 50, a typical first deposit on a Standard Cent or Standard account, if the payment method allows it. Risking 1% is USD 0.50, about EGP 25, per trade. Spend the first weeks on the demo, keep a journal of each trade, and test a withdrawal early. Avoid borrowing to trade.
