Short answer: You can try a free Exness demo account and register with Rwanda as your country; the form shows whether service is offered. The Rwandan franc (RWF) is not an Exness account currency, so most Rwandan traders use a USD account. On legal status, the Capital Market Authority (CMA) of Rwanda said in a public notice dated November 7, 2022 that it had not licensed any entity to provide online forex brokerage in Rwanda and that dealings in this type of investment are at the investor's own risk, so read the CMA's current notices, the 2024 leveraged foreign exchange regulations and the licensee list before you deposit.

Does Exness work in Rwanda?

Exness does not publish a country list, so use the registration form: enter your email, choose Rwanda as your country of residence and see whether service is offered. If it is, you get a Personal Area, a demo account and, after verification, a live account.

Exness accepts clients by permanent, lawful residence. A Rwandan citizen living in Rwanda registers from Rwanda; a foreign resident of Rwanda can register if their documents prove that residence. The registered country cannot be changed afterwards, and a permanent move means a new account from the new country. We do not suggest registering from a country where you do not live.

RWF, USD and currency choice

The Help Center list of account currencies for Standard, Pro, Raw Spread and Zero accounts has no RWF. Practical points:

  • USD is the usual choice: gold and most pairs are quoted against the dollar, so results are easy to read.
  • Conversion happens at the payment step, at the rate of your bank or wallet at that moment. Exness states that the currency you deposit in is the one used on withdrawal.
  • You cannot change account currency after creation. A different currency needs a new account.
  • The franc moves against the dollar over time, so keep a record of the rate at each deposit and withdrawal to see your real result in francs.

Deposits and mobile money in Rwanda

Mobile wallets such as MTN Mobile Money and Airtel Money are widely used in Rwanda. Whether Exness offers any of them for your region is not published; the Deposit tab in your Personal Area shows the methods available to you with limits, fees and processing times.

Rules that apply to any method:

  • The wallet or bank account must be in your own full name. Third-party payments are not accepted.
  • Your operator or bank may add its own fee.
  • A method can be temporarily unavailable during provider maintenance.
  • Verification lifts deposit limits.

See deposit and withdrawal methods and withdrawal time. Withdrawal processing time can vary by payment method.

Minimum deposit for Rwanda

Account typeFirst-deposit rule
Standard Cent and StandardLow; depends on payment method and country
Pro, Raw Spread, ZeroAt least USD 200 in some regions

Later deposits only need to meet the payment method's minimum. Lot size and margin decide how much balance a position needs; a small balance with a large position can be closed out quickly. Standard accounts have margin call at 60% and stop out at 0% (stop out guide). Details are in the minimum deposit guide.

Short factual notes:

  • The Capital Market Authority (CMA) Rwanda licenses capital market business and says on its public notice (November 7, 2022) that it had not licensed any entity to provide online forex trading brokerage services in Rwanda. It also warns that unlicensed firms often claim to be licensed. The notice is several years old. Rwanda has since published regulations on leveraged foreign exchange trading (Official Gazette of 26 February 2024; CMA press release of 5 March 2024), and the CMA calls on firms that want to operate in Rwanda to apply for a licence and advises the public to confirm that any provider is licensed. Check the CMA's current notices.
  • To check a firm, open the list of licensed capital market firms on the CMA site (cma.rw) and search the exact entity name from your client agreement. The National Bank of Rwanda (BNR) supervises banks and payment providers (bnr.rw).
  • Exness operates through several group companies authorised by different financial regulators around the world. The company that serves you is named in your client agreement and in the footer of your Personal Area. Check the current list on Exness's regulation page and confirm it on the regulator's own register. See Exness regulation.

The Rwanda Revenue Authority (RRA) is the tax authority. Ask a Rwandan tax adviser how trading income is treated and keep full records.

Swap, leverage and risk

Rwanda is not on the list of 33 countries assigned swap-free status automatically. Swap-free applies by default on eligible instruments and an overnight administrative fee may apply on some (Islamic account guide). Maximum leverage depends on your equity and the entity serving you (leverage guide). Leverage magnifies losses as well as gains (risk management).

Contact and login

Support is available 24/7 in English, Chinese, Thai, Vietnamese, Arabic, Hindi and Urdu, by live chat after login or by a support-hub ticket answered within 24 hours. French and Kinyarwanda are not on that list. We found no Rwandan office or phone line, so a self-described "Exness Rwanda agent" asking for a password or code is not Exness.
