Short answer: Macau is not named in the list of places Exness says it does not serve, so you can try choosing Macau at registration and open a free demo account. The pataca (MOP) is not an Exness account currency, but the Hong Kong dollar (HKD) is, and the pataca is linked to the Hong Kong dollar, which is why HKD or USD are the usual choices for Macau residents. Macau's financial regulator is the Monetary Authority of Macao (AMCM), and we found no AMCM statement on online forex brokers, so read the legal section before you deposit.

Sources: the Exness Help Center (account currencies, first-time deposits, verification documents, swap-free status, US daylight-saving notice of 30 October 2026), checked November 2, 2026; the Exness website footer (country restrictions), checked October 29, 2026; the Financial System Act of Macau, Decree-Law 32/93/M (Boletim Oficial, bo.dsaj.gov.mo), read November 2, 2026. The AMCM website returned only a title when we opened it, so we could not read its notices. We did not open a Macau account and did not test any deposit.
Is Exness available in Macau?
The footer of the Exness website lists the USA, Canada, Iran, North Korea, Europe, the UK, Russia and Belarus, "and others", as places it does not serve. Macau is not named, but because the list ends with "and others" the country menu in the registration form is the final check. If Macau can be selected, you can create a Personal Area and a demo account.
Exness bases acceptance on where you permanently and lawfully live. A Macau resident registers from Macau with a Macau proof of address. Residents of mainland China or Hong Kong register from where they live, and the Exness China and Exness Hong Kong pages cover those.

MOP, HKD or USD: choosing the account currency
Your account currency is fixed when the account is created. Exness says conversions apply when you deposit or withdraw in a currency different from the account's, and that you can avoid conversion charges by depositing in the account currency.
- HKD account: the closest match for a Macau trader. The pataca is linked to the Hong Kong dollar at 1.03 patacas per Hong Kong dollar (a figure reported by sources that cite the AMCM; we did not confirm it on an AMCM page), and many Macau residents already hold HKD. A HKD deposit avoids the Exness conversion step.
- USD account: simplest for gold and dollar pairs. The Hong Kong dollar is itself pegged to the US dollar, so moving between HKD and USD usually involves a small spread, but there is still a conversion.
- Funding in MOP: your bank converts patacas at its own rate and may add a fee. Compare it with the peg.
Write down the pataca value of each deposit and withdrawal to see your real result.
Deposits and withdrawals for Macau clients
The Help Center says first deposits are accepted only from accounts in the client's own name; third-party accounts are not accepted. It does not publish a method list by country. The Deposit tab in your Personal Area shows the methods available to you, with minimum and maximum limits and processing times.
Practical checks:
- Complete the economic profile and verification first, since they affect which methods are enabled.
- Read the minimum and the processing time before you press Continue.
- Your bank may add its own fee, and bank cut-off times in Macau and Hong Kong can add a day.
Withdrawal processing time can vary by payment method. See the deposit and withdrawal guide and withdrawal time.
Minimum deposit in Macau
| Account type | First-deposit rule |
|---|---|
| Standard Cent, Standard | Low, based on the payment method and the region of registration |
| Pro, Raw Spread, Zero | A minimum that depends on the region; at least USD 200 in some regions |
Every method also has its own minimum that applies to every deposit. If the account rule is USD 200 and the method minimum is USD 10, the first deposit must be at least USD 200. A small balance with a large position can hit stop out quickly (stop out guide). See the minimum deposit guide.
Is Exness legal in Macau? What the AMCM covers, and how Macau differs from Hong Kong
Short facts:
- The Financial System Act (Decree-Law 32/93/M, in force from 1 September 1993) defines the framework for financial activity in Macau. It defines a "financial intermediary" as any person whose business is to buy and sell, on behalf of third parties, habitually and with a view to profit, instruments traded in the money, financial or foreign exchange markets, or to accept investors' orders to dispose of them. It says the AMCM supervises the money, financial and foreign exchange markets, and that it may require the winding-up of a company that, without authorisation, carries out operations reserved for financial institutions.
- We read the Act's text but could not read AMCM notices, and we found no AMCM statement that names Exness or addresses online forex or CFD brokers serving Macau residents. Whether and how the Act applies to a foreign online broker is a legal question we cannot answer. A Macau lawyer can.
- Hong Kong is different. Hong Kong has a separate licensing regime for leveraged FX dealing run by its Securities and Futures Commission, and the two territories have separate regulators. A statement about Hong Kong rules does not carry over to Macau. See Exness Hong Kong.
- Exness operates through several group companies authorised by different financial regulators around the world. The company that serves you is named in your client agreement and in the footer of your Personal Area. Check the current list on Exness's regulation page and confirm it on the regulator's own register. See Exness regulation.
Never give your password or a one-time code to anyone claiming to be Exness, and avoid anyone who offers to move money for you through unlicensed exchange or remittance services.

- Create a live account and choose type, platform and currency (account types).
- Deposit from an account in your name, starting small.
- Trade with a stop-loss on MT4, MT5 or the Exness Trade app (app guide).
Market hours in Macau (UTC+8)
Macau uses UTC+8 all year with no daylight saving. On 30 October 2026 Exness published a schedule change for the end of US daylight saving time on 1 November: forex pairs now open on Sunday at 22:05 UTC and close on Friday at 21:59 UTC. Metals, energies and indices have their own hours.
| Event (forex pairs) | Macau time |
|---|---|
| Weekly open (Sunday 22:05 UTC) | Monday 06:05 |
| Weekly close (Friday 21:59 UTC) | Saturday 05:59 |
The schedule moves by an hour when US clocks change again, so check the instrument page in your Personal Area. Spreads can vary and widen with market volatility, news and market open/close. See Exness trading hours.
Swap, leverage and risk
Macau is not on the swap-free country list, so swap rules follow your account and instrument (Islamic account guide). Maximum leverage depends on your equity and the entity serving you (leverage guide). Leverage magnifies losses as well as gains; read risk management.
Support and scams
Contact Exness only through your Personal Area, by live chat after login or a ticket in the support hub. Support is available in several languages; check which ones in your Personal Area. See customer support.
