Exness Papua New Guinea: Legal? Kina, Deposit, Demo

Short answer: Papua New Guinea is not named in the list of places Exness says it does not serve, so you can try choosing Papua New Guinea at registration and open a free demo account. The kina (PGK) is not an Exness account currency, so a kina deposit always involves a conversion, which makes the choice of account currency and funding route the main practical question for PNG traders. Neither the Securities Commission nor the Bank of Papua New Guinea (BPNG) has a statement we could find that tells retail traders how online forex is treated, so read the legal section before you deposit.

Sources: the Exness Help Center (account currencies, first-time deposits, verification documents, swap-free status, US daylight-saving notice of 30 October 2026), checked November 2, 2026; the Exness website footer (country restrictions), checked October 29, 2026; the Securities Commission of Papua New Guinea website (scpng.gov.pg), read November 2, 2026; a 2015 report on a Bank of PNG foreign exchange measure (lcci.org.pg). The Bank of PNG site blocked our requests, so we could not read its notices or its Foreign Exchange Manual. We did not open a PNG account and did not test any deposit.

Is Exness available in Papua New Guinea?

The footer of the Exness website lists the USA, Canada, Iran, North Korea, Europe, the UK, Russia and Belarus, "and others", as places it does not serve. Papua New Guinea is not named, but because the list ends with "and others" the country menu in the registration form is the final check. If Papua New Guinea can be selected, you can create a Personal Area and a demo account.

Exness bases acceptance on where you permanently and lawfully live. If you live in PNG, register from PNG. If you work abroad, for example in Australia, register from the country where you permanently live with documents from there.

No kina account: USD or AUD

Your account currency is fixed when the account is created, and the kina is not on the list. Exness says conversions apply when you deposit or withdraw in a currency different from the account's, and that you can avoid conversion charges by depositing in the account currency.

  • USD account: the simplest choice. Gold and the dollar pairs are quoted in US dollars, and the Help Center lists USD for every main account type.
  • AUD account: AUD is listed, and Australia is PNG's close neighbour, so some PNG residents hold Australian dollars. It only makes sense if you actually hold AUD.
  • Funding in kina: your bank converts kina at its own rate, possibly with a fee, before or while sending funds. Compare that all-in cost with the market rate, and note the kina value of each deposit and withdrawal so you can judge your real result.

Because there is no kina account, every kina deposit and every withdrawal back to kina passes through at least one conversion. On a small account these costs can be a visible part of a trade's result.

Deposits and withdrawals for PNG clients

The Help Center says first deposits are accepted only from accounts in the client's own name; third-party accounts are not accepted. It does not publish a method list by country. The Deposit tab in your Personal Area shows the methods available to you, with minimum and maximum limits and processing times.

Money leaving PNG for an overseas broker usually passes through a PNG bank. The Bank of PNG runs exchange control through authorised dealers, and a 2015 report says the central bank limited kina and foreign-currency trading to authorised dealers. We could not read the current rules for individual transfers abroad, so ask your bank whether it will process the payment, what documents it needs and what fee it charges. A bank may decline or delay a payment to an overseas broker, so test a small amount first.

Practical checks:

  • Complete the economic profile and verification first, since they affect which methods are enabled.
  • Read the minimum and the processing time in the Deposit tab before you press Continue.
  • Ask your bank about fees on both the deposit and the withdrawal.

Withdrawal processing time can vary by payment method, and your bank adds its own time. See the deposit and withdrawal guide and withdrawal time.

Minimum deposit in Papua New Guinea

Account typeFirst-deposit rule
Standard Cent, StandardLow, based on the payment method and the region of registration
Pro, Raw Spread, ZeroA minimum that depends on the region; at least USD 200 in some regions

Every method also has its own minimum that applies to every deposit. If the account rule is USD 200 and the method minimum is USD 10, the first deposit must be at least USD 200. Bank transfer fees can be a large share of a small deposit, so the cheapest account on paper is not always the cheapest in practice. A small balance with a large position can hit stop out quickly (stop out guide). See the minimum deposit guide.

Short, checkable facts:

  • The Securities Commission of Papua New Guinea describes itself as the independent statutory authority that regulates the PNG capital market. Its site lists the regulated activities as dealing in securities, advising on corporate finance, trading in derivatives, investment advice, fund management and financial planning, and it keeps a page of licensed and approved entities. The pages we read do not mention forex or online trading by name, so we cannot say whether retail forex falls under "trading in derivatives".
  • The Commission publishes notices that named firms are not licensed and warnings about fake social-media accounts and "fast money" schemes. We found no notice that names Exness.
  • The Bank of PNG regulates banks, money changers and foreign exchange dealers and operates exchange control. We could not open its notices, so we do not state what they say about online trading.
  • Practically, nothing we found says that the PNG authorities supervise an overseas online broker. Your protections come from the Exness company in your client agreement. Exness operates through several group companies authorised by different financial regulators around the world; the company that serves you is named in your client agreement and in the footer of your Personal Area. Check the current list on Exness's regulation page and confirm it on the regulator's own register. See Exness regulation.

A PNG lawyer or the Securities Commission can tell you how these rules apply. Never give your password or a one-time code to anyone claiming to be Exness, and be careful with social-media "investment" offers, which the Commission has warned about.

Swap, leverage and risk

Papua New Guinea is not on the swap-free country list, so swap rules follow your account and instrument (Islamic account guide). Maximum leverage depends on your equity and the entity serving you (leverage guide). Leverage magnifies losses as well as gains; read risk management.
