Short answer: Mauritania is not named in the list of places Exness says it does not serve, so you can try choosing Mauritania at registration and open a free demo account. It is on the Exness Help Center list of countries that receive swap-free status automatically. The ouguiya (MRU) is not an Exness account currency, so the practical choice is a USD or EUR account, with conversion costs on each deposit and withdrawal. Arabic is on the support-language list; French is not. Mauritania uses UTC+0, so local time matches Exness server time in winter.

We did not open a Mauritanian account or test deposits.
Is Exness available in Mauritania?
The Exness footer says its entities do not offer services to residents of certain jurisdictions, including the USA, Canada, Iran, North Korea, Europe and the United Kingdom, "and others". Mauritania is not named, but the list is open, so the country menu in the registration form is the final check. If you can select Mauritania, you can create a Personal Area and a demo account.
Exness decides by where you permanently and lawfully live (Help Center). We do not suggest choosing a country where you do not live.
| Question | Answer | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Is MRU an account currency? | No | Help Center, "Trading account currencies" |
| Are USD and EUR account currencies? | Yes | Same article |
| Swap-free status | Mauritania is on the swap-free country list | Help Center, article 18055079599132 |
| Arabic or French support? | Arabic is listed; French is not. Also English, Chinese, Thai, Vietnamese, Hindi, Urdu | Help Center, "How do I contact Exness?" |
| Demo account | Free, all types except Standard Cent | Help Center, demo accounts |
No ouguiya account: how to handle the conversion
An account currency cannot be changed after you create the account, and conversions apply on deposits and withdrawals made in a different currency (Help Center). The list has no MRU option, so you choose USD, EUR or another listed currency. Neighbours' currencies such as the Moroccan dirham (MAD) and the West African CFA franc (XOF) are listed, but they only help if you actually hold them, since each extra step adds a conversion.
Illustration at an assumed rate of USD 1 = MRU 40.00. This is a round example, not a quote; your bank or exchange office shows its own rates.
| Dollar amount | Illustrative ouguiya | Note |
|---|---|---|
| USD 50 | MRU 2,000 | A small test deposit, if your method and account type allow it |
| USD 200 | MRU 8,000 | The minimum first deposit stated for Pro, Raw Spread and Zero in some regions |
| USD 1,000 | MRU 40,000 | The gap between buy and sell rates grows with the amount |
Now assume your bank sells dollars at MRU 40.80 and buys them at MRU 40.00 (again an example). Buying USD 200 costs 200 x 40.80 = MRU 8,160. Selling the same USD 200 back returns 200 x 40.00 = MRU 8,000. The round trip costs MRU 160, about 1.96% of the amount you put in, before any payment fee. Ask for both rates and record them for every deposit and withdrawal.
Swap-free status in Mauritania
A swap is the charge or credit for holding a position past the daily rollover. For clients registered in the listed countries, the Help Center says swap-free status is assigned automatically, covers every account type in your Personal Area, and means all trading instruments on those accounts have zero swap. To see your status, open Trading conditions under Exness benefits in your Personal Area, then Swap-Free.
- A caveat: Exness reserves the right to apply an administration fee on orders kept open overnight Monday to Friday, based on trading activity, and publishes a rate table per instrument and lot (Help Center). Read the row for your instrument before you hold it for days.
- Who benefits: swing traders who keep positions for days, and traders who avoid interest for religious reasons. Day traders who close before the rollover see little difference.
The swap-free and Islamic account guide lists the full set of countries. Neighbours Morocco, Algeria and Senegal are on the same list.
Gold (XAUUSD) from Mauritania
XAUUSD is quoted in US dollars. Under the Exness schedule after US daylight saving ended on November 1, 2026, it is closed on Sunday until 23:01:30 UTC, in close-only mode until 23:05:00 and open from then; it closes on Friday at 21:58 UTC. From Monday to Thursday it pauses from 21:58 UTC and reopens at 23:02 UTC (Help Center, article 31342732737180). Mauritania uses GMT (UTC+0) all year, so local time equals UTC:
| Gold event | UTC | Nouakchott time |
|---|---|---|
| Weekly open | Sunday 23:05 | Sunday 23:05 |
| Daily break starts (Mon-Thu) | 21:58 | 21:58 |
| Daily break ends | 23:02 | 23:02 |
| Weekly close | Friday 21:58 | Friday 21:58 |
See the gold trading guide.
Deposits, withdrawals and minimum deposit
The Help Center does not publish payment methods by country; the Deposit tab in your Personal Area lists what is available to you with limits and processing times. Payments must come from accounts in your own name. Processing time differs by method, so check it in your Personal Area. See deposit and withdrawal methods and withdrawal time.
| Account type | First-deposit rule |
|---|---|
| Standard Cent, Standard | Low, based on the payment method and region |
| Pro, Raw Spread, Zero | At least USD 200 in some regions |
Read the minimum deposit guide and the stop out guide.
Is Exness legal in Mauritania?
What we could check:
- The Banque Centrale de Mauritanie (BCM) is the central bank. Its website (bcm.mr) is in French and Arabic.
- The pages we could read did not include a register of forex or CFD brokers, a statement naming Exness, or a rule on retail trading with an offshore broker. We cannot say whether this activity is permitted, restricted or outside the central bank's scope, or whether rules on foreign-currency transfers affect funding an overseas account. The BCM or a lawyer in Mauritania can say.
- Exness operates through several group companies authorised by different regulators. The company that serves you is named in your client agreement. See Exness regulation and confirm on the regulator's own register.
Tax treatment of foreign trading income is outside what we verified; ask a local accountant.
How to open an Exness account from Mauritania
- Register with your email, choose Mauritania as your country and set a password. The country cannot be changed later.
- Open a demo and test your plan. A Standard MT5 demo with virtual funds is created in your Personal Area; for MT4, Pro, Raw Spread or Zero, go to My Accounts, Open Account, then Demo (demo account guide).
- Verify with a proof of identity and a recent proof of address (check the date rule on the upload screen); names must match (verification guide).
- Create a live account in USD, EUR or another listed currency (account types).
- Deposit a small amount from an account in your name and test a withdrawal early.
- Trade with a stop-loss on MT4, MT5 or the Exness Trade app.
Support is available in Arabic but not French, so French speakers should plan to use English (customer support).
Market hours in Mauritania (UTC+0)
Forex pairs open on Sunday at 22:05 UTC and close on Friday at 21:59 UTC (Help Center, article 31342732737180). Platform charts use Greenwich Mean Time (GMT+0), which the Help Center says cannot be changed; for Mauritania, which also uses GMT all year, chart time and local time match.
| Event (forex pairs) | Nouakchott time |
|---|---|
| Weekly open | Sunday 22:05 |
| Weekly close | Friday 21:59 |
From the second Sunday of March the Exness schedule moves one hour earlier, so the Sunday open becomes 21:05 Nouakchott time. See Exness trading hours.
Leverage, risk and scams
Maximum leverage depends on your equity and the entity serving you (leverage guide) and magnifies losses as well as gains. Be wary of anyone offering to "manage" your account or promising fixed returns, and never share your password or a one-time code.
